Bicuspid Aortic Foundation Our Families Our Friends 2006

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in southern California, families and friends affected by bicuspid aortic valve disease and other forms of thoracic aortic disease gathered to meet one another and listen to current information presented by Dr. Sharo Raissi and Dr. Wouter Schievink, members of the Foundation's Scientific Advisory Board.

Presentations from Dr. Raissi and Dr. Schievink provided important information for patients and families about the diagnostic testing and surgical approaches to thoracic aortic conditions and brain aneurysms.

There was time for everyone to "mix and mingle" - those newly diagnosed, others who have had surgery or plan surgery soon, those who have survived an emergency dissection or stroke - all supporting and encouraging one another - confirming that we are not alone as we deal with BAVD and TAAD.

It was an afternoon well spent,
