On February 4, 2004, Richard Houchin's ascending aorta dissected while he was at his rental property in Culver City, California. Members of the Culver City Fire Department paramedic team responded, first transporting Richard to a local hospital, and then on to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where Dr. Sharo Raissi performed emergency surgery.
