Northern California Vineyard

July 1, 2006

Life-saving knowledge flourishes in a supportive climate.
.
Like the vineyard pictured above, there is continued promise for a fruitful harvest through the efforts of experts in the field of thoracic aortic disease. Their work gives hope as well as information to patients, families, and the physicians who care for them.

Dr. Eric Isselbacher, a cardiologist, is Co-Director of the Thoracic Aortic Center at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and a member of the Bicuspid Aortic Foundation Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Isselbacher recently made a presentation at the American Association of Thoracic Surgeons Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. When I viewed these slides, I remembered the many times when I have had questions about things explained here.

I well remember my first searches for information when my husband's aneurysm was found. Today I am encouraged by the increased information available about bicuspid aortic valve disease and thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection generally. It means a great deal to know  there are those working in this field who continue to not only ask questions but pursue the answers.   Thanks to them,

                                                                     creating a climate of hope.

With very best wishes to all,
